You have marked this as a hiking route. Please change it to a road. Also, civilians are not permitted to walk/drive on this road so better to remove this as a hiking route.

The route is gone. Thick grass impossible to hike through.

It is in very bad shape. Better to keep it as a standalone regional or lcoal trail.

Bhandardara Traverse route updated:
1. From Ghattan Devi Mandir to Kulang the Hivlyachi Daar is unfortunately being converted into a road now. New trail (ghatvaats) are added west of the crestline (Jamunde - Ladhewadi - Ghattan Devi Temple) and Parvyachi daar is added to avoid road sections.

2. From Bari all the way to South of Pabargad is mostly road section. To avoid road one can loop around East and South of Kalsubai and then stay North of AMK to further reduce road section between Udadhavane and Kanarwadi.

3. The Sindola ridgeline approach trail is no more in use as told by shepherds of Devichiwadi.

4. The Shipnur Dongar trail is in very bad condition. It is better as a separate regional trail or a side trail.

5. Bail Ghat is another route but my recommendation is not to add that path to any hiking route as it is in very bad shape.

Lonavala to Bhimashankar route:

1. This route has a lot of road section. First from Lonavala to Valvand. Then from Kusur to Yelawali. Effectively this route was just 19 km trail.

2. Umer Dara route is a better trail skipping the road to some extent.

3. Instead of wandrekhind, the route from Peth and Payari ghat helps further reduce the road sections.

More sections like Gogol Naal, Ramkhand forest, Ambenali Ghat etc were added to reduce the road section between padharwadi till Bhimashankar.

Sudhagad to Raigad route has been updated/modified.

1. The big road section from Taila Baila village to Ghutke village has been replaced by a dense forest trail west of Mahar Thana peak. The region is also further connected North towards Kalamb village through a trail.

2. Telyachinaal – Thipthipyaghat routes are in ruins as locals have stopped using these trails. I walked through both these routes and a better alternative is the Waghzai Khind trail which is regularly used by lcoals and is in good condition.

3. Tamhini to Dhamanohol is again a nice trail connection reducing trail connection drsatically.

There are still a couple of ghatvaats near Sudhagad that need to be mapped for a better connection towards Taila Baila as Savasni Ghat is not in good condition.

184263733

The trail to the fort is in very bad shape. It is better to connect a trail from the unnamed saddle between Gothivale and Kamthe

The Pune to Pratapgad Traverse was updated/modified.

1. Since this ridgeline is a upranga (marathi for ridge that runs perpendicular to the main North South Sahyadri Spine) it is nice to use one ridgeline to hike East and then use a different ridgeline to hike West. This creates a nice loop with more trails for hikers to explore. A long ridgeline was added in this region starting from Pabe Khind till Nasrapur. This ridgeline runs parallel to K2S and just South of it.

2. Along the popular ridgeline of Katraj - Sinhagad - Rajgad - Torna more trails were added to reduce the road sections, incorporate more ghatvaats like Singapur Naal. There are still few road sections that need to be replaced by trails. But the overall region is well lit now in terms of trail network.

This traverse has been updated and more routes are added to the region.

Trails to forts like Kangorigad are completely gone from Gothivali side. A lot of road contruction took place breaking the trail continuity between Mohangad and Pratapgad. Aswal Khind is the only wilderness pass left.

After incorporating all the above mentioned changes, Pune to Pratapgad traverse has been updated and after adding more routes it has become Stage 31 of the Epic Sahyadri Trail.

Godnichi Naal route is very techincal. It is better to keep this route unmapped so that novice hikers do not venture close to this gully specially from the Desh side.

161345351

Maashacaa Col is a very techincal climb and requires very high climbing experience. It is better to keep this route unmarked so that novice hikers do not approach this gully unprepared.

The Mahabaleshwar Traverse Hiking Route has been updated/modified.

1. Kudali Khurd to Nakhinda - this route is not in use and therefore an alternate inclusive hiking route from Gudhe - Nivangan - Dhanivali is hiked and mapped.
2. The Mahabaleshwar Traverse route had a long road section East of Jambhali Dam that has been updated by a route called Nishnichi Vaat reducing road section drastically.
3. Multiple trails are added North of Raireshwar, South of Koleshwar and North and South of Mahabaleshwar
4. The Kopeshwar to Kamalgad regional route is no more in use as the old couple who used to live on top of Koleshwar has left in 2026. The trail is completely shut.
5. Old Mahabaleshwar to Arthur Seat trail is not in good condition. It is good in few patches and bad in remaining.

Since more trails got mapped in the community hikes done in between 2021 - 2025 all three plateaus - Raireshwar, Koleshwar and Mahabaleshwar have a lot of trails. These are therefore made part of Stage 35, 36, 37 of the Epic Sahyadri trail and the Mahabaleshwar Traverse was modified to stitch trails in a way that will reduce road sections and have more trails to hike.

There is still a lot of trails that can be mapped South East of Mahabaleshwar.

The trail between Karjat to Jumma Patti is now a road. It was sad to see the red ribbons which were old trail markers that now stand on a wide road.

The routes Matheran 1 and 2 were updated/modified. Now all the trails (all those trails that are regularly used by locals and thus are in good condition) are made part of one Stage 24 of the Epic Sahyadri Trail. This stage lets you experience the trails all around Matheran reducing road hiking drastically.

The Peb/Vikatgad route was also updated because when I did the route in 2026 the whole trail was in very bad condition (thickets, landslide points). It is better not to keep it part of any hiking route.

Two trails Myra Point to Katwan and Beatrice Cliff to Katwan were hiked in 2026 and I decided not to add them as the condition of these trails is extremely bad. These trails are full of trash. Other routes like Koltyachi naal, Dugad naal are all not in use.

The Prabalgad to irshalgad route got an update where this traverse is now further extended towards Nimda Dongar.

This route (Kadve Khind to Pol) was verified in Jan - Feb 2026 when I did the Epic Sahyadri Trail. Unfortunately, a very nice ridgeline trail lost. :(

185743960

Raigad to Nasrapur superroute is updated because the trail Kadve Khind to Pol does not exist anymore (raod construction North of Kadve Khind and no trail on the ridgeline till Gawli Khind)

185744009

Changed the route from National to Regional. Too small to be national.

145368855

It is a single-abandoned house. It has no local name.
