I've rolled back the wrong encoded names to version 17 of this node (http://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/19771069).
Can anyone please confirm, that the names are spelled right (Most of the languages I don't speak)?
I checked almost all the names through the Wikipedia, and they are fine.
I added Catalan (ca), German (de), Danish (da), Spanish (es), English (en), Galician (gl) & Italian (it) names to Bangui node, & deleted Pangasinan (pag) and Kapampangan (pam), as they refer to a village called Bangui in Ilocos Norte province, Philippines ( http://osm.org/go/42az_tuW-- ).
I consider this issue solved, although you can always add more languages to it...
Just comment that I also changed the position of the node to a central point in the city. Both changesets are the following:
http://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/19993912
http://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/19994121
I'm fine with your changes. As I said, I neither speak those languages nor have I visited Bangui in the past. I just came across those weirdly encoded names.
By the way: Is the new position of the node only geometrically more central, or is it "roughly in the perceived centre of the place, for example the town or village square to the central in terms of facilities and/or transport routes or next any appropriate central monument" [https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Place#How_to_map]?
The last comment was by me. I just wasn't logged in.
Well. In that wiki they say you can map a place as an area. In that case, the name would be the geometrical centre of that area.
In my case, I just put it in roughly what would be the center or the big residential area of Bangui ( http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/102336004 ). But the node is also quite centered in what respects to facilities, with the Assemblée Nationale to the East, the Airport to the West and the sport stadiums of the Stade Complexe Barthélémy Boganda to the SE. It's also placed more or less in the center of the main avenues, between the Avenue de l'Independance, the Avenue de France and the Avenue des Martyrs. It's difficult to decide in fact what the best location should be for a place node, but being placed in the PK0 SE corner of the city is less optimal, IMHO, than putting it further north, were it is now.
