Gravesham Storming Up the Table

Yeah I've recently got addicted to OS Locator. I'm prioritising the country roads since they are poorly signed anyway.

GPS traces

Oh, it's Liz :) of course it's the relicensing lol.

GPS traces

Why have you removed your traces? The relicensing?

OS OpenData suspected CT-compliant

I think you need to distinguish between attribution in the database and attribution with respect to the CTs. Although you could argue that OS is attributed in the database, this is not enforced by the CTs. The CTs allow for OSMF to use the data without restriction (but with voting safe guards), including removing the attribution. Therefore the attribution required by OS is not respected by the CTs.

Mapping soho tonight + banging on about building outlines again

As well as building outlines, it would be good to have the landuse filled in as best as can be managed. The default mapnik looks odd and my ability to get this info from Yahoo imagery is variable...

Bus and rail platforms

I am impatient and simply tag it as building=yes as well as the platform tag.

imports

Yeah, it would be useful to be able to load KML into an editor. (The way I have to do it is to convert into tiles, and have a WMS server return the appropriate area in JOSM. This is certainly not trivial!) Apparently it is possible in potlatch? It is mentioned here:

If I knew java, I would write a JOSM plugin, hint hint...

London building outlines homework assignment

How about setting landuse for all of London? :)

Kent Visit

Ah, good work on that. I have been trying to do villages in Kent also.

Added a new Bike Bridge

Your attention to detail is to be commended - but beware of getting road classifications from google or other map sources. It's potential legal hot water. If you can identify it from yahoo imagery, that is fine.

Back roads between Charing and Faversham

Crid,

That looks much better :)

Hi netman55,

I was the someone who traced Gravesend. On your point on it being a shame to "rework lots of areas", people seem to be assuming that perfection should achievable first time or indeed at all. Neither are true. The map will always be a work in progress since the world changes continually.

When Galileo GNSS is available, the whole of OSM will need to be updated because of the improved accuracy available. They does not mean OSM is a waste of time before Galileo!

Anyway, I hope the tracing is of some assistance even if it contains errors. It is my preferred way of mapping and in some environments it is more accurate than GPS (or seems to be...).
