I want to add, that I only act remotely if it only affects a small number of objects (smaller than 10ish) or there is a (very) clear majority for the combination outlined in the wiki

I followed wiki guidance: osm.wiki/Addresses_in_the_United_Kingdom
In this particular case, the [city][suburb] combination already existed twice in the database. Hence I 'found' it in the first place.

I'm trying to 'communise' concurrent variations of [addr:city], [addr:suburb], [addr:village],[addr:place] into [addr:city][addr:suburb] where city is a UK posttown, if this is the dominant variation.

According to the post code that pub is in Sheriff Hutton = suburb of its postal town York = city. Which seems about right when I look at the map

thanks for the heads-up. I came across that page yesterday. I've stopped adding addr:country yesterday afternoon. The Josm address preset makes it look like a desirable tag. (labelled optional though).
re addr:county, this was to 'preserve' what was incorrectly included in addr:city. I agree that this is somewhat redundant and had not planned to use it anymore going forward.

Hi txemt, this is to connect the rivers and streams that drain into the lake with the outlet to achieve a connected system of water flows. Waterway=fairway might not be the right tag, feel free to improve with your local knowledge.

To me the current tagging still doesn't seem unsuitable, you may want to add newspapers=no or similar.
As you mention in your blogpost, there is a dedicated tag shop=newsagent for newsagents.

I think kiosk reflects pretty well what it is, a pure to-go outlet with no seating or so - compare the pics for cafe and kiosk on the wiki.
Even on their own website they refer to themselves as a kiosk - well "not just a kiosk" but a somewhat glorified version of one.
But feel free to change the tagging. my visit was 3 years ago and things might have changed. This is OSM and I have left the area anyways.

indeed, this tagging does not look ideal. It seems at the time the restaurant was not operating anymore. However that was 10 months ago, so I personally would be reluctant to make any changes without revisiting. Unfortunately, I have left the area.

For small change sets only covering Germany comments in German are perfectly fine, of course :)
I'd also recommend to split change sets by location.

Hi, the tagging is actually carried forward from the footway at the western end which I extended. From the top of my head I can't remember any restrictions. It looked more like a usual public footpath. No vehicle traffic possible anyways,
