Hi gdt. It was a year ago, but it would have likely been the town gis map - from the town's website. It looks like the street is not on the gis map anymore tho, with only a remnant "North MDW" written were the street used to be. Maybe it was edited by the town since. It was edited by someone else on OSM after my edit anyways. Edit it however you think is appropriate. Thanks.

Hi Waffl. While someone may have put up a sign, it's not always a reliable indication of private property. The town map shows an easement (pubic) to where it's been re-edited to. I ran it too by the way. Thanks.

The city has it in their list of streets. There are no paths listed, only streets. So it’s a street. Boardman place is too btw. Thanks.

Hi Meekmichael. While the streets you edited may be marked private roadway, it's only limited to certain things like parking. It's not the same as private property, which basically how you designated them. If you look at the town map, the roadways are have their own easement. They are fully public roadways. Thank you.

Respectfully you didn’t really answer the question as to what issues will be caused by keeping it a trunk road. I’m also curious why you care so much about road so far from VA. Myself having local knowledge of this road, it’s a trunk road. Again marking it any other way is not right and is going to put our residents at risk. Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback Joseph. It does seem to fit a trunk designation, who's description includes physical characteristics, and no mention of length. But more importantly, I'm interested to know how the classification affects the use of OSM? Does it create some issue for navigation sites using OSM? Part of the reason for the edit is because Primary roads include pedestrian, which in this case would be dangerous, maybe illegal. While pedestrian "no" can be added, Trunk makes it quite clear by both description and color that it's not for pedestrians. Thanks.

Just because someone else edits something does not make them right. The editor is from VA. Making edits to roads is MA, obviously without surveying them, is inappropriate. I visit the roads that I edit, do you? In any case, please do not change any more trunk roads in the Boston metro area, as they have already been designated appropriately. Thank you.

Can you send the link swhere it says that description? The description for Trunk says "important roads that are not motorways". Primary roads are "highways linking large towns". Trunk actually appears more appropirate for North Shore and Soldiers Field Road as well. As a site, editing every road to say if it (or any section) for pedestrians or not is beyond burdensome. Again since Trunk seems more appropriate anyways, it solve the problem if you just left the streets as they were. I can see a lot of people are making comments on your edits, so I'm not the only one questioning your edits. I hope to avoid an editing back and forth here between you and the running community.

Hi Cubbe8. What is the purpose of changing all these Boston Metro roads away from Trunk Roads? North Shore Road is split highway, with no pedestrian access/sidewalks. Changing them from Trunk is going to indicate to walk/run tracking sites that it's ok to acces, which it's not. Your changes are going to put people at risk.

No problem waffl. Boxford's town GIS map actually shows Barker even more clearly as a public roadway. Perhaps the golf course put up that sign and allowed it to get overgrown too, to keep people out. Its basically a fire access road, so the land-track designation is right for that. Thanks.

Sir, I think I was fairly respectful in my comment to you, not warranting your argumentative and lengthy response. We are talking about a description of path/road in the woods on a web site, nothing remotely important.
I’m not sending this with the intention of arguing with you. I actually agree with you on Wood Lane now, seeing it’s on the City’s GIS map. I still don’t agree about the fire road, since it’s not listed on the city’s gis mapping, but if it’s that important to you, I withdraw on the issue. I might suggest simply giving it no name if it’s unclear.
PS: I would not discount other web sites use of OSM to populate their map data. Without them OSM probably would not exist, or at least not be what it is. I’m sure you do not you don’t agree, but let’s move on. Thanks.

Hi Mike. I noticed your edit to make this a track road as well as the outer section of Wood Lane. I’d like to ask it be put back as a path. Other sites that use OSM as their source consider track roads drivable streets, which these realistically are not. The Path designation can be used path/roads that are larger than a single track. Street names are also not supposed to be a description of the road, but the name of the road/path. Thanks.

Again driveway is used for private property, such as access to a home or busines. This is a publicably acessable cemetery. Service road is what is used other cemeteries. If there are others in CT using driveway, they should be changed.
The section names were added to the the roads to help with finding gravesites. Thank you.

Hi Jnighan. Inquiring about your changes to "driveway" status on the roads in the Maplewood cemetery. Use of "service road" is fairly universal in cemeteries since they are open to the public. They were tagged as service before the section names were added. I'd like to edit them back. Thank you.
