alright ive been adding some more feature in that area based on the imagery, I have just changed them to "paths" which means anything except for motor vehicles

I removed the extra (double walkway), removed the detail from the individual node. it was pretty good, keep in mind that as it is now it pretty much has the bare details which is all that really required. and also it is tagged as a walkway meaning that no bikes would be routed through this alley, if bike are allow it should be changed to "path" which means anything can use it except for motor vehicles. I added a turning circle node based on the imagery and tidied up some surrounding roads.

adding extra details such as the width etc is far beyond the average mapper though, generally just a line tagged as a walkway is standard and good enough. also the name should not be there either, you can add that it represent a alley with extra tags, unless it has a official name such as "fossil alley" or something then no name should be there

ok, a line of a path or road represents the centre. a single line for the alley tagged as a walking path is perfect, you can add more details such as width and surface etc by adding tags, the railway-road crossing is way out of place and should only be placed where a road intersects with a railway, you can just right click on it to delete it.

@fortera no information from the SAPOL website is used on OSM anyway, I use the list as a check list which I converted to a excel speradsheet and placed the nodes on OSM based on my on surveys in person.

@aharvey not only that at the bottom of the SAPOL website the information is released under CC 4.0, also I have been to every single one of them in person. and also if you have any issue with any of my edits and copyright issue please email the DWG instead of discussing on a changeset comment thread that has nothing to do with speed cameras other than you wanting attention which I dont have time for.

thats a much better answer than simply saying im wrong, OSM definitely is cautious about using data sources and I have always respected that.

@kylesey you changes are fine, fortera has a huge misunderstanding of copyright laws. I will forward this to the DWG just so they are aware of this conversation. keep editing mate! we need mappers that actually contribute to the project instead of pretending to be lawyers that have been to law school.
