The Scout Trail seems to be abandoned. Much of this trail was replaced by the Fanning Trail loop extension. Scout Trail trail markers have been removed, replaced by Fanning Trail markers. It still appears on maps though (both on the Land Trust of North Alabama website and on the physical map at the Fanning trailhead), which haven't been updated yet to include the Fanning Trail loop extension.
