sidewalks need to be connected to streets at crossings to avoid broken pedestrian routing.

It would also be a good idea, when drawing sidewalks as separate ways, to map the sidewalks on both sides of the street instead of just one. Otherwise it implies that there's no sidewalk where there actually is one.
