There is a Senegalese police border office here. a few hundred meters north, there is a Mauritanian border office.
It has been a controversial topic with local (Senegalese) population believing that the recently erected Mauritanian border post was on Senegalese soil. Senegalese officials have visited the Mauritanian border post and established that it is actually on Mauritanian soil.
According to the Senegalese police officers at the Senegalese border post:
- the border is right here, at the border post!
- Senegalese citizens are allowed to access the beach without a permit
- foreign citizens need an oral permit from the Senegalese police to access the beach
