brat
you will never see me do micromapping
➡️ Check out my river system Overpass query.
Relations make up less than 1 % of tagged features[1], yet I focus on working with them.
Besides this account here, I have an anonymous alt account for editing my local area, because my location[2] is none of your business.
man_made=*(ti) is patriarchal and should be replaced with human_made=* or artificial=*(ti)
OpenStreetMap is an amazing project, but openstreetmap.org is an bad example of what OpenStreetMap can be used for.
We should add Central Europe and Eastern Europe as multipolygons just to keep the trolls busy.
STOP DOING MERCATOR
- SPHERES WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE PROJECTED
- YEARS OF MERCATORING yet NO AREA BEYOND 85° N or S FOUND
- Wanted to go further North or South anyway? We had a tool for that: It was called “GLOBE”
- “Yes please map my sphere to a CYLINDER. Please make it INFINITELY tall, cut off the infinite ends, and then unroll it to a plane” - Statements dreamed up by the utterly Deranged
LOOK at what Mercatorians have been demanding your Respect for all this time, with all the keys & values we tagged for them
(This is a REAL Mercator projection, done by REAL Mercatorians):

“Hello I would like to go 90° N and 69°67’ W please”
They have played us for absolute fools
CHANGESET BOUNDING BOX AND ITS FUTURE
The changeset bounding box and its consequences have been a disaster for the OSM community. They have greatly increased the understanding of those of us who think in “easily readable” rectangles, but they have destabilized the localization of the actual changes, have made global edits unfulfilling, have subjected human beings to indignities, have led to planet-sized OSM contribution history bloat (locally to non-contributing history bloat as well) and have inflicted severe damage on the ability to locate changes. The continued development of technology will worsen the situation. It will certainly subject human beings to greater indignities and inflict greater damage on the natural state of the map, it will probably lead to greater social disruption and psychological suffering in the comments of global changesets, and it may lead to increased technical debt even in “advanced” software.
