No worries! I’m trying to improve all the station entrances across LIRR and Metro North, so expect some adjustments in the coming months, but feel free to correct them if anything is off. I’m mostly just adding tags to entrances so they can work in applications that use OSM

Why should it be a tagged as a subway when it’s commuter rail service?

“A train station entrance might get you to shops before you reach the platform, or it might get you to an overpass/underpass crossing a street.”osm.wiki/Tag:railway%3Dtrain_station_entrance

Oh I didn't realize it would have that effect. I did it because the routing application I use was marking them as two separate paths (leading no connections from the edges). What I've done at other stations is connect the path to the edge of the platform way, would that be better?

Hello, apologies for the change, I didn’t realize mountain biking was allowed. A mapping application marked this as a bike path (for casual users) and a user reported it to be changed so I did without checking mountain biking.

You can change it back now or I will in the coming days, and add a tag for the mapping application that won’t affect the map for mountain biking. Apologies again for the change without double checking!

Yes feel free! I know it’s been removed, I forgot to remove it myself

They've recently changed this area's circulation, to improve the safety of the bike path. The exit/entrance is only for trucks filling up gasoline for the station.

The other access is only an entrance to the parking lot and not an exit. Cars exiting are meant to use rue Wellington to avoid crossing the bike path.

I might contact the city about it.

I hope long term they could just remove the unnecessary tunnel here and make rue Berri cross at Sherbrooke like a normal street, but that won't be for at least 20 years

Thanks for all the info! I'll see what we use here and maybe add a specific tag, or just leave it as is.

I work for a company that uses OSM as a base map, and users have complained about this crossing being unsafe and should route you to another one.

Is there a better way to mark this? Quebec Highway code also says pedestrians must use a crosswalk if there is one nearby, which in this case there is on the other Berri.
