Why Am I Here?

I was a massive user and fan of Google Maps (still am for some usage cases), but then I started getting frustrated at how hard Google - a company whose whole business model is about using other people’s information - made it to correct glaring mistakes on their maps.

As a volunteer emergency worker, knowing the local names for areas, or tracks, or knowing where they actually were, was very important to me. And whereas Google made all that impossible to add and improve, OSM was all about it.

So that’s why I am here. To improve OSM for myself, and, in doing so, to try and make it better for everyone else at the same time.
