"Kalaeloa Heritage Park (KHP) is a State of Hawai’i-owned park run by volunteers to survey, locate, mark, and improve access to education of sensitive or Native Hawaiian cultural sites. A community-based research project (CBRP) is being collaborated on by KHP and partnered University of Hawai’i West O’ahu (Department of Social Sciences and Anthropology) archaeology field school. This park is a community-based participatory research (CBPR) project collaborated on by the local Native Hawaiian population, State of Hawai’i, and partnered with the University of Hawai’i West Oahu’s (UHWO) archaeology field school run by the Anthropology and Social Sciences department. This park is indigenous-owned, meaning that it is owned and maintained by local Native Hawaiian community members and volunteers from around the community. "
