Which intersection is this? This seems to have the coat of arms of Drummondville on it. I'm talking about the section that runs through St-Lucien.

You can check at 45.8485694,-72.3089052 (Route Des Rivières / Ch. Hemmings) and 45.8399929,-72.2678584 (Rang 4 / Chemin Hemmings).

Both intersection have an "s".

Hi,

Quick question. Why was "chemin hemmings" renamed in this changeset? All local signalisation have an "s" to it.

Hi,

When adding sidewalks to OSM, would it be possible to make sure to add all related marked/unmarked crossings too? Otherwise this changes break pedestrian router.

Thanks,

Hi !

Just to let you know, it is important to also map every crossings when adding sidewalk in OSM. Otherwise, this breaks walk and transit trip planners that rely on such information.

Hi,

I've been browsing your sidewalk edits in the last few months. Would it be possible to also add crossings at each street corners (marked and unmarks) when doing so? Otherwise, those kind of edits break most walk trip planner based on OSM, because there is no connection between sidewalks at street corners and result in large unnecessary detours.

Thanks !

Hi !

I've notice you are splitting multiple ways into small one, but they all seems to share the same fields and values. My question is : why ? There seems to be no obvious purpose to this.

Why remove bike access on "Rue de l'Île Charron" (way id : 48617260)? The data state that there's a cycle path on the right side of the road. Have this cycle path been removed?

Hi,

I just noticed you added a multiple sidewalks in Boston. That's awesome ! That's also super important to properly connect them to crossings though (or add the crossing if missing). See : way/816227288

Otherwise, this creates dead end for pathfinding applications relying on OSM.

Have fun editting OSM !

It is planned to be extended north of the Autoroute 20 in 2021if I recall correctly.

But otherwise, the already mapped part is definitively finished and open to the public. There is even official statements that the Promenade Rivia will remains open during the COVID19 crisis dating from march and june on the city's website.

Why have you set the Promenade Rivia under construction ? It's been finished for over a year now.

Hi !

I used the satellite imagery to confirm the absence of sidewalk on those ways. The reason I've modified it is that I'm working on a trip planner based on OSM and we had report from users that our proposed trips would tell them to walk on trunk roads with no sidewalks. Reports matched what I saw with satellite imagery.

Hi,

When adding sidewalks in OSM, it is really important to be sure to correctly link them to the nearby roads network. This include crossings and overlapping with driveway or transversal roads. Otherwise, such edits could broke planners relying on OSM.

Thanks for your time improving OSM !

Hi ! yes, I'm working on the Router at Transit and I'm responsible to fix OSM missing/erroneous data. In this particular case, the Emeryville station wasn't connected properly, be way/199394845 (way/199394845) has a tag "access : no". So I've added surrounding sidewalks to allow walking from Emeryville station to Horton Street.

Hi ! I've had reports that it was possible to exit this station from the West from app's users I'm working for (which is based OSM data for Trip Planning). Bing streetside photos does show an access. However, I admit I don't know the exact layout, which is why the edit is minimal. I'd be happy to correct if it was reveals to be wrong.

Hi Nate !

I've notice that you have added multiples sidewalks in Toronto. That's great ! However, please, do not forget to also map where people can cross the road, usually at intersections. Multiple people work on planner relaying on OSM data, and missing crossings result in planner looking for driveways and/or smaller road to connect sidewalk to roads, which may cause (sometime) huge detours.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Ugh ! Sorry. I'll be more careful in the future.

I believe routing engines should propose legal and non-dangerous paths. Yes, people can cut through some shortcuts, but they were often not intended to that purpose.

73315734 over 6 years ago

Hi,

I've seen that you added multiples desire path crossing some train tracks. It is illegal to actually cross at those places. Don't forget to also tag them access=no, at least, so that software relaying on OSM for trip planning doesn't give dangerous instructions to people.

Thanks,

Thanks for the feedback ! I'll look into those links and correct it.

Mainly for routing algorithms that support bike.

Take the case of a biker on Manning Road going to Winter Court. He could takes the way/34366551. However, most routing algorithms doesn't allow biking on sidewalk. We could simply connect way/34366551 directly to Manning Road, but pedestrian aren't allowed to cross at this place of the road. Tagging the sidewalk as a path was the simplest solution I came up with.
