Proposed name honoring the 10th Mountain Division and nearby Camp Hale, where soldiers trained during WWII. The word Sentinel reflects both the military role of a watchful guard and the peak’s commanding position along the Tenmile Range near the Continental Divide. This name ties together the area’s military history and its geography.
