Stuff I care about:
- Service roads and long driveways. If these are not mapped, navigation suffers.
- Building entrances on residential buildings are rare to see. I wish mappers would add them if they are not obvious from the road layout.
- Fences and walls that make it clear to navigators how NOT to approach an address.
- New build homes. I wish normies would trust OSM to know about these before Google et al.
Petty stuff I don’t like, but will probably tolerate:
- Parking aisles should only appear as internal strands in large car parks, as per the wiki. Most of the time, a plain service road should be used within parking areas.
- Pavements and sidewalks immediately adjacent to roads. Fine if they are set back from the road, or are shared cycle paths, or are used sparingly to solve another problem.
- Residential gardens are ugly, especially when applied non-uniformly. Maybe Mapnik needs to change.
