Also bridleway way/509025635 duplicates another way.

50435405 over 8 years ago

A potential duplicate bridleway from this changeset here: way/509026286 - also note that it doesn't link to other ways at each end or with the path it crosses (way/417198897).

The bridleway is probably a duplicate of way/112311573 which presumably is the bridleway, although that may need checking on the ground.)

Most of your recent changesets I've looked at look fine :)

Thanks for all your work getting bridleways mapped :)

You can still currently see the duplicates on the opencyclemap at the following area as it takes a while to update: way/93575407#map=15/50.7759/0.1834&layers=C
You can see duplicated bridleways (eg Charleston Bottom) and also cycleways on top of tracks (eg around Newbarn), and footpaths on top of steps (by Westdean). It looks like when you were mapping you couldn't see the existing ways - if it was JOSM, perhaps you hadn't downloaded the area, but with Potlatch I think this is meant to happen automatically?

50653526 over 8 years ago

Sure, I'll see if I can find any others and flag them up so you can see them. Am I right to understand that you're using Potlatch? I haven't used that for a long time, but I wonder if there's some editor bug where it isn't downloading everything?

Hi, neighbourhood seems as sensible as anything. I suggest renaming the construction area, as you say, it's now called Forge Wood. I think they may have broken it down into areas now, so might be worth looking at that.

Are you bulk importing rights of way from some other data source? Please see osm.wiki/Import/Guidelines :)

50653526 over 8 years ago

I have started removing some of the duplicates. I'm very puzzled about your mapping process as you seem to be working on a blank map. Please download existing OSM data before adding new ways. Many of the ways in this changeset did not link properly to the other ways in the area.

This changeset seems to include new ways that duplicate those already in place. :(

Enjoy the SDW - it's a fantastic ride! :) I did it last July, but I'm not fit enough this year to be able to manage it again, 35 miles was quite enough for me when I rode from Amberley to Southese a month ago! If you haven't ridden it before, the following website can be useful, though it is probably getting outdated. http://www.bikedowns.co.uk/

I would be very cautious about taking information from OS maps or any county definitive map. See osm.wiki/Ordnance_Survey I believe that 1:25k and 1:50k maps showing public bridleways, footpaths, etc, aren't part of the OS open data release.

also some of the surface tags appear to be inaccurate. I will correct from local knowledge.

50584555 over 8 years ago

I'm not sure whether the source you have used is ok copyright wise, as it is (I think) based on an OS map. Please check. Which section of the SDW was missing? It used to be complete here.

Good spot - should be restricted_byway, as per changeset title. Have now fixed! Thanks.

Are you sure the pavements on the western side of Southgate Avenue are cycle paths? My recollection is that they are not. The cycle path is on the eastern side. Happy to be corrected if it's changed recently! :)

Yeah, I've noticed it's a bit hit and miss but it aligns well with Strava Heatmap for the cycle path next to the a23 so reckon it's fine for this.

DigitalGlobe imagery is up to date, I've now updated the area using this.

Great - thanks! :)

This seems to include some incorrect edits based on out of date Bing photos :(

Hi Oppotone, thanks for the spot.

Jersey Road was a short dual carriageway when I mapped it several years ago, but this was changed on OSM by another user 7 months ago to a single carriageway but he left as one-way. I've left a comment on that changeset.

Regards,

David

Hi Dan,
Has Jersey Road changed on the ground as when I last went there (probably 2007) it was a short dual carriageway. You've singled it but left it marked one-way I think. Only noticed because someone commented on my earlier changeset!

Regards,

David
