před 4 měsíci | Congratulations! Nice job!
před více než 2 lety | Oh sorry, that was not meant to be uploaded! I was testing out some minor functionality in my app and forgot to undo the edits before heading off to do some real mapping, and the test edits got caught up in the upload.
skoro před 4 lety | That’s great information. Looking at the Apple Maps 3-D flyover view makes it all very obvious, pretty much what I thought it was like originally. Everything around there is somewhat misaligned with the MapBox imagery, I’ll try to fix it up as best I can to make it consistent. I notice you haven’t made any edits yourself, feel free to jump in since it seems you have local knowledge.
skoro před 4 lety | Yes I agree with you. I was going off the horribly aligned Bing imagery and trying to route it to the parking lot down there. Should it connect to the node you mention or end right next to it?
asi před 4 lety | I sympathize with your position. In OSM there are lots of situations (e.g. Russia/Crimea) where the morally correct map disagrees with the situation real people encounter while navigating the world. As a project we’ve chosen to resolve these conflicts by mapping what’s seen “on the ground”, so if the signs, authorities, etc. that a traveler would encounter say the name is Rainier, then that’s what should be mapped. There’s definitely a place to lobby for the original name, but in OSM we want to focus on what’s most useful to people using the map in the real world. The original name appears in the old_name tag, and you can also add it to name:sal (Salish).
asi před 4 lety | While I understand that there are good reasons to (officially) restore the name of the mountain, similar to how Denali was renamed, until a widely-recognized official change occurs we should use the most widely used name: Rainier
před více než 4 lety | I’m in Sedona now and hiked to, and mapped, Subway cave, which is to my knowledge in a totally different area than where you placed it. Based on searches for “Sedona subway cave” the one I mapped in Boynton Canyon seems the better match. I also don’t see any trails accessing the location you mapped. What do you think?
před více než 4 lety | Okay no problem. Thanks!
| 110387218 | před více než 4 lety | I'm trying to add support in my app ("Go Map!!") for editing near the south pole. I happened to notice that this changeset added some empty nodes at (-90,0):
|
před více než 4 lety | As part of this changeset you edited node/7666504809/history which is in the incorrect location, and is also a duplicate of node/5314074411/history (which is in the correct location). Could you delete this node as well as the associated path that is connected to it?
před více než 4 lety | I’ve reverted this change and others. Please don’t upload changes unlike they reflect ground-truth.
před více než 4 lety | Fixed.
před více než 4 lety | Looking over the edits the road deletions I saw are within the “Morogoro - Makutopora SGR” construction area. You can modify a relation (safely) by splitting a way that belongs to a route relation.
skoro před 5 lety | Thanks! Yes looks like a bug.
skoro před 5 lety | This edit lost the building=yes tag. I’d like to confirm whether this is due to a Go Map!! bug or because you modified the tags manually. Thanks!
| 95638232 | asi před 5 lety | GPX trace I made today:

před více než 5 lety | Mapping right in front of my house! 😂
před více než 5 lety | Ha ha, didn’t try them out, maybe next time!
před více než 5 lety | Is way/804714457 something you added just to help align the nodes? Do you mind if I delete it? This is just a few blocks from my house so I like to keep the area tidy :)
před více než 5 lety | All changes are public. If you delete something accidentally you should try to restore it yourself if possible.
