This building - currently titled "National Chavez Center" - is now the Visitor Center for the Cesar E. Chavez National Monument. It was the administration building for United Farm Workers (UFW) and held Cesar Chavez' office. It was owned by the NCC until 2012 when NCC donated this building (which still contains Cesar Chavez' office as he left it and a museum about the farm worker movement) and Cesar and Helen's gravesite memorial gardens and their house to the US federal government. These properties were donated for the National Park Service in order to establish the Cesar E. Chavez National Monument in 2012.

This marked building is not the Visitor Center. It is a vacant building which was at one time a sanatorium hospital and then later (in the 1970s) used as a dormitory for volunteers by the United Farm Workers (UFW). The building immediately to the east that is currently titled National Chavez Center is the actual Cesar E. Chavez National Monument. That building (the smaller one tot he left) was owned by the NCC until 2012 when NCC donated this building (which contains Cesar Chavez' office and a museum) and Cesar and Helen's gravesite memorial gardens and their house to the US federal government. These properties were donated for the National Park Service in order to establish the Cesar E. Chavez National Monument in 2012.
