almost 8 years ago | What is "The Sunshine Club" ?
almost 8 years ago | Forgot: 6. Not everything in OSM needs a name. Only put names on things that have names and don't feel obliged to make up names like "waste disposal point".
| 55873986 | almost 8 years ago | Welcome to OSM. Just a few tips for you: 1. Names should be in lower case.

almost 8 years ago | Meh. If there is one thing I learned from importing several thousand of these in NSW is that it's much easier to import these sort of things with a clean slate.
almost 8 years ago | You'd be surprised how many mappers think you can just copy whatever you like into OSM without asking.
almost 8 years ago | Sorry, thought the changeset comment was fairly clear as to what this is for. Did you look at changeset/55665896 ?
almost 8 years ago | I'd be more worried about the kind of person that would be driving around this part of NSW following a route provided by their GPS rather than knowing where they are going.
almost 8 years ago | @tonyf1: FM that search engine on data.sa.gov.au is helpful. I searched for proposed, subdivision, cadastre, road, and location SA and couldn't find it. Turns out the magic search term was land. @atschulz7: Copying anything from another map is an import, even if it is only one thing. If you want to contribute to an open source mapping project where no-one will look at your work I can recommend http://fosm.org/.
almost 8 years ago | Hi, We don't have permission to use data from Location SA. We have permission to use SA data but only datasets that have been released under CC-BY. Location SA has not released any datasets under CC-BY. You can check this website to find out which dataset have been released under CC-BY (https://data.sa.gov.au/). Please do not import anymore data from Location SA. Thank You.
almost 8 years ago | Can I assume that: Is a work in progress?
almost 8 years ago | We don't have permission to use that data in Openstreetmaps. Please don't import this. Thanks.
almost 8 years ago | Hi, What source did you use for way/553458794? Thank you.
almost 8 years ago | It applies to anything you copy from another map or dataset. It also means we have a problem with the Bundaberg boundaries because we don't have permission to use them in OSM.
almost 8 years ago | OK, so that explains the Brisbane ones. Where did the ones around Bundaberg, that you put in, come from? And how about dropping a message on talk-au (https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-au) to let other mappers know that you are planning an import (which is step two of the guidelines osm.wiki/Import/Guidelines).
almost 8 years ago | And while you're at it: what is the source of this data?
almost 8 years ago | A tip for next time: if a track's been closed but it's still visible on the aerial imagery I'd leave the way but tag it disused: (disused=*:) and add a note that the track has been closed. Otherwise what happens is that mappers will see the track on the imagery and put it back in again.
| 55341795 | almost 8 years ago | Hello!
|
almost 8 years ago | This changeset has been reverted. These boundaries were imported from the NSW LPI dataset and are therefore what the owner of this reserve thinks are correct. You will find many examples where the existing road does not fit within the original road reserve. This just represents the facts on the ground.
almost 8 years ago | Copying anything is an import. Doesn't matter how small. It would appear that we haven't had much success in getting QLD to agree see this mail thread: https://www.mail-archive.com/talk-au@openstreetmap.org/msg10883.html
| 55325959 | almost 8 years ago | Several problems: 1. The "permission" OSM received from Data Australia was worthless. A Commonwealth body does not have the legal right to sub-licence a state owned dataset. So we've never had permission to use this dataset. 2. Even if we did, the licence has now been changed and the permission would no longer be valid. 3. OSM now requires us to get a signed waiver to use CC4.0 datasets:
