Hi, I’m planning to revert this changeset, as well as the others where you removed prefixes in the Phoenix area, based on my understanding of the on-the-ground rule (i.e., prefixes are consistently signed across the metro, this isn’t Utah). Let me know if you have any concerns.

They weren't removed because they are part of the official street names. This is evidenced by the fact that non-LED street signs at all City of Phoenix intersections (i.e., ones that aren't at stoplights) include both the prefix and suffix. This is also the case for most all street signage at intersections without traffic lights in Glendale, Peoria, Mesa, Gilbert, Tempe, Scottsdale, and Chandler, among other cities. Even if a city in the metro decided for aesthetic or other reasons to not have the prefix in their signage, the streets are all part of the same or similar grid systems, and the official name used by locals would still include the prefix.

The Utah approach was specifically agreed upon by users local to that community. For a number of reasons, mapping the grid system in Maricopa County does not lend itself as well to the approach taken in Utah. The on-the-ground rule is just as much "how the locals refer to it" as it is "what the street signs say." Have you considered why so many of the streets you've updated have had the prefix for 15 years, and why within that time no other users have attempted to remove them? I also agree that you should revert all your edits to remove prefixes to Phoenix area streets or at least bring this to the community forum so you can get perspective from local users.
