What is “Note Confirmation”?

In the context of our Kenyan mapping projects, note confirmation is the essential validation phase that follows initial data collection. This involves:

Community Validation: Sharing draft data with community members and grassroots organizations to verify information and add missing context. This process ensures that the data reflects the reality on the ground.

Technical Ground-Truthing: Cross-checking mapped features (like schools, health facilities, roads, and water points) with existing records and physical visits, often using GPS-enabled mobile tools.

Stakeholder Review: Presenting the final validated data to high-level stakeholders, such as county government officials and national bodies (e.g., the Ministry of Lands), to ensure quality and compliance.
