Need to self

If that’s a mapper diary post we are gone to hell altogether.

Mapping CCTV camera's in Bangalore.

Hi I saw your blog longtime back - its good. Are these mostly the Government or is it private properties and companies? How can you tell what operator?

Do NOT edit the map of Ukraine until the end of war!

I don’t know when this will be over, but I expect that when it is and we get some new imagery the parts of Ukraine occupied by Russia will need to be re-mapped simply because of the destruction.

Time to talk about landuse=residential

I am confused about this tag, prolly because of the many ways people use it to mean different things. I assume it means that the area is not agriculture or natural, and humans live in it.

In big cities I often want to add the tag for natural woods. Is it wrong to add this without making a relation or a gap in the residential?

“What was the 2,000,000th building added to OSM in Ireland?”

The possibility to count everything is why we love OSM.

What I have learned so far!

Hey this is great - millions of people map, and I think they all have different things.

I use ID so if you find a video that shows how to use josm tell me please.

Sorry / Bad choice of words

It is good to own your mistakes, even after you feed the flames in a pile in for a couple of days. This shows some level of character and can only be welcomed.

I hoped that the gender and ethnic conversation would be handled more calmly when this is over and not as part of this. Some people want to start that off using your badly judged comments as a basis, and using you as a typical example of comments in the osm community probably to validate their own behaviours and failings and divide us all up.

Cartographic Poverty - the grounded truth

Thanks for doing this research. The result is a surprize because most ideas about the volunteered mapping would say poorer places are less able to map, but you do show how the poor places are more full of the buildings. When I started mapping my area was already mapped and I started on doing road side trees two miles from home :) …. my point that you shouldnt assume OS mappers only map what is beside them. Poor parts of Dublin have less points to map in my opinion. There are definitely less trees and less lighting, and somebody described it as society’s problem and it is.
