Changeset When Comment

I disagree Trigpoint it is fairly common to take opening times and from the companies website of the store and put them on Openstreetmap. Many do this and many contnue too. Nothing is breached here.

Maybe try welcoming new people rather than criticising their edits.

Welcome TheUKHighStreet to OSM sone of these edits are long over here.

Just been here. I thought it was going to be a stationery shop but seems to sell all sorts of things. Maybe a gift shop.

Sorry for the strange typo there. I have no idea why I called it the wrong name. I looked the morning and was about to change it but you got there first.

56727025 almost 8 years ago

changed soba to be 1 building. you have to split the ways to leave a gap and then combine the ways.

55630055 almost 8 years ago

Yep I have changed that. I wasn't on offline map as it has been added only recently.
And I checked it anyway when i got back to my PC.
You were so quick to point this out it is boardline stalking

I am not sure the UK OSM community agrees with that given what tag info says about Costco.

54820809 almost 8 years ago

I am not sure this needs to be changed. Are all costco stores access=private? Surely the same applies to the stops too.

54821064 almost 8 years ago

yep i need to change that

Oh no. I have added some of these via maps.me today. Now we have duplicates.

Alex I don't think the "is_in" tag is needed anymore as it can be derived from the county polygon

is_in=*

It is better when doing edits of this nature to give a little more detail in the changeset description.

For example
Change name: Banco Santander --> Santander

Ummh I am not sure.

For drops yeah I should not have joined them for the drops and add steps where applicable but the others I would I suppose class them as walkways.
My reasoning is although narrow they have put down paving slabs for walking on rather than leaving the uneven ruins.

here is a photo for reference, http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1995431

Maybe I need another path next to the wall path where the steps are.

As you likely suspect I did may mapping from the imagery (it has been a long time since I last was there)
Anyway i am due a trip there soon (Easter time) and that is the reason I am updating this area now so my phone can get the maps in time and I will get improve the area more then. The vast majority of the work has been done for the area now.

If I make it to next weeks meeting we can chat about it then in more detail.

ummh..I thought I got alerted about changeset comments but that didn't happen.

Can someone explain in plain speaking English what is wrong with a user splitting ways?
These comments here are not to help or educate the user just trying go find blame where there is none.
Is the new policy that if you split ways you are banned? Sounds like some users forgot osm is a community project and want it as there own map.

Checked this today. The corner building is indeed Nationwide - the one next door (the old nationwide/derbyshire is now vacant) And there are infact 3 cash machines for the nationwide branch. 2 on East street and 1 around the corner on Albion street.

Not sure why you have reclassified this section of the A412 as a secondary road.
These are (in general) for the B roads.
I changed this back. Feel free to discuss

31636012 over 10 years ago

I'll check. From memory the old derbyshire changed to a nationwide (i think)(they bought them out years ago) and is next door to the new nationwide on the corner (the old HMV). I imagine there was a crossover of a couple of weeks where both could have been open.

True, but excellent work. Allestree is coming on great now. Still got to map all the shops in Park Farm hopefully i get there at some point in the summer.

I don't see any need to change what you are doing. I don't see any point making entering data more difficult for yourself.
Some don't enter detailed data and don't see the need.
Simplifying tools will *always* lose information.
Openstreetmap has a large database all your edits in this set only contributed 0.000005% of the total and about 0.005% of new nodes added daily. It is not going to effect OSM at all in any negative way adding detailed info.

29036844 almost 11 years ago

The node issues and dups I have fixed already. A simple fix when you know how.

There are not too many nodes - this is great. Don't listen to the haters,
Please leave as it is.
Don't use Simplify ways in Josm. Simplify way is simply useless. It will reduce all your work and ways to a complete mess.

Well clearly the heart was in the right place on this edit. Established
One mans obvious guideline changes is anothers sweeping
I must say I have edited plenty in London and never noticed/registered it before. If I had I would likely have done the same thing.
One of the problems in large cities (maybe more so with active communities) is some things get overlooked/not acted upon as they things someone else (not you SomeoneElse) will do or has done it how we want. That and very few people have the detailed local knowledge of *all* the areas, like suburbs in London/Birmingham, etc
