Phantastic Mapping Here!
I map pretty much everything and anything I encounter.
Why do you map? I travel a lot, a whole lot, my main navigation app is Comaps & TomTom, both of which use OSM data to function. My idea is that the more data I contribute, the more accurate it will be for me, and the easier time I’ll have navigating this confusing world.
Also OCD, I need to have everything mapped or I tweak.
Where are you from? Spain
Where do you live? I’d rather not say, but you can figure it out quickly based on my mapping patterns and GPS traces… lol
How many KMs do you do per week? Around 600km to 700km every week. Driving.
Future mapping plans? So, generally I never plan around mapping, I just sit and do it, however, I am planning to make my car a more effective mobile mapping unit. I plan to get a LIDAR sensor, a proper 360 camera & combine everything for automatic mapping as I drive.
Here’s what my (future) setup would look like:
- Sensors:
-
- GNSS Antenna + GNSS Receiver
-
- LiDAR (USB Connection)
-
- IMU
- Computing
-
- Intel NUC / Mini-PC
-
- Ubuntu / Linux Mint
-
- ROS2 + PPS & GNSS time handling, Sync LiDAR & IMU, data stored.
