Sommet nommé ainsi dans le topo 60 randonnées sans cordes de Denis Mathieu et Hubert Tassel de 2010. Cela correspond au nom du torrent sur sa face Sud-Ouest visible sur IGN Top 25.
Dans le livre Toponymie Ubaye Verdon de François ARNAUD de 1904 il semblait s'appeler le Tiéoure.
