| 546398 | OldSowPublishing | Machias Seal Island is disputed territory between Canada and the United States. Treaty between the two countries defines the border to between Grand Manan, NB, and the Maine shore, to the southern end of Grand Manan. To the southwest there is no treaty-based boundary; however, a 1982 International Court at the Hague determined that the international boundary begins again about 10 seconds to the southwest of Machias Seal Island, and seaward, dividing the Gulf of Maine between the two countries. That boundary is referred to as the Hague Line. The area between the south end of Grand Manan and the north end of the Hague Line (roughly 100 square miles surrounding Machias Seal Island) remains disputed, and is referred to as the "Grey Zone". Both Maine and New Brunswick fishermen fish the Grey Zone. Both governments manage the bird wildlife on Machias Seal Island, with puffin watch boats from both countries landing there. There is a Canadian-built and staffed lighthouse there, since the island presents a hazard to navigation. |

| 546388 | OldSowPublishing | The Deer Island - Campobello Island ferry lands on the beach at this location. It does not use a wharf or any other infrastructure (other than concrete pavement in the intertidal zone). The landing currently erroneously shown is at a wharf, and the ferry has no way to load or unload via a wharf; the ferry is a flat barge with a ramp that lowers to the beach. Cars drive over the beach and up the ramp to load. |

| 546417 | OldSowPublishing | "Barrow Well Hill" is a misspelling. The correct spelling is "Barrel Well Hill". It is named for the spring at this location that formerly drained into a half barrel. |
