I set the barrier=gate features (node/10962965614, node/10962965612, node/10962965613) to private to match the modeling that was already on the parent ways like way/1052325272 in your 2022 changeset changeset/119798940. I also noticed this fence polygon (way/974502613) had private tags and there is ground imagery (https://www.mapillary.com/app/?pKey=994782714643432) here I interpreted as private residential access for these apartments.

In addition to surface tags the wiki suggests smoothness=* tags can be set in addition to surface tags. This tag appears to be closer to what you are looking for smoothness=*.
