Appreciate your edits on OpenStreetMap, but I've removed this node. I'm pretty sure you made it up! Please contribute constructive edits only. Thanks!

Hello,

I noticed you added the 'natural=scrub' tag to a way, which is the outer way of a relation that already specifies the scrub tag.

(I have sinced removed the redundant tag on the way)

Cheers!

Hi,
Thanks for pointing out this issue. I didn't download the entire Lake Burbury relation when I modified it, hence it wasn't picked up by JOSM validator before I uploaded this changeset. It is a very simple fix, and I have also downloaded and rechecked the map data and there doesn't appear to be any other issues caused by this changeset.
Cheers.

G'day Dave,

Thanks for your edits! I just have a few suggestions about the roads you added in this changeset:

I would avoid using "highway=road" and instead recommend a different "highway=" tag to help define the type of road better. See the wiki page for different classifications: highway=*

In this case, Newhaven track should probably be "highway=track" since it is forestry road of relatively low-importance.

You also added a road with "name=track". There should not be a name key for roads without names (unless the road is actually called "track"?) As mentioned above, this road should also be "highway=track" instead of "highway=road".

You might also be interested in the "tracktype=" key which can help classify the quality/condition of track roads. tracktype=*

Cheers

Hello tastrax,

I noticed you have added road names to some junction=roundabout segments. The OSM wiki suggests that the name tag is not required on the roundabout unless it has a specific name (e.g. the Railway Roundabout in Hobart) junction=roundabout

I had recently removed the road names for some of these roundabouts just a few days ago under this presumption. (And I'll admit I was doing the exact opposite until a few weeks ago!).

Let me know your thoughts.

Cheers,
Lee

Hi, I am deliberately not marking these areas for a number of reasons:

1) My aim is to complete the traced "outlines" of vegetation area in Tasmania, details such as landuse=forest add more complexity and can be completed at a latter date

2) A lot of these areas are plantations, but some is native forest harvesting. Native forest logging could technically occur anywhere on public or private forestry operated land, but is determined by a number of factors such as the wood to be sourced, environmental protection (streamside buffers, high conservation value areas, etc)

If you check out the Forestry Tasmania interactive map viewer, you can see that aerial imagery alone cannot accurately determine what might be assumed to be "landuse=forest"
http://www.forestrytas.com.au/operations/interactive-map-viewer

As for the shared segments, I will take a closer look!

Cheers.

Just an update - I have received a response, but am still waiting for a decision.

So far no response from DoPMaC. I will remove the boundaries once I have the opportunity in about a week's time, unless I hear back before then. Cheers.

Hi,

At the time of contact, LIST did not allow their data to be used in OSM. I removed other data I had already imported, but kept the LGA boundaries because the same information was available from data.gov.au, (http://data.gov.au/dataset/as-local-government-areas-psma-administrative-boundaries) However, I will ask around to confirm if it’s ok or not to use this in OpenStreetMap.

Sorry for taking so long, here's the permission - osm.wiki/Geoscience_Australia_1:250_000_GIS_Datasets_permission

40280575

I have posted to talk-au, but it hasn't appeared and I think it is still waiting for moderator approval. If you have any further concerns, message me directly and I can give you further details if you are still concerned. Cheers.

GSA had permitted the use of their CC 4.0 data in OpenStreetMap via an email I had with their IP & Copyright Manager. I'll post this to the mail-archive.

Hi, yes GA has granted permission for use of this dataset in OpenStreetMap. I'll put a wiki page up with the details.

Thanks for pointing it out, I'll try and fix it in the next day or so. I think the relation for the wood cover is too big.

Thanks for pointing them out. I will take care of it.

FYI I have been able to clean up the mess by manually deleting the data. I'll be more careful from now.

39088120

Well I tried using JOSM reverter but now have IO Exception error messages after the first successful revert. I think I will leave things alone before I start a fire somewhere...

Hi, I was a bit too eager and did a bulk upload of the LGA boundaries for Tasmania, with the false assumption I could easily "live edit" afterwards. I've since made significant corrections in JOSM but can't fix my prior changesets because I have not kept track of the object IDs and many of the objects I uploaded to the server are missing relations. Could someone please undo my changesets up until #39086406? I will read the wiki much more closely from now and do smaller uploads. Apologies for the inconvenience.

I have been unable to upload the new SWNP multipolygon but will do it as soon as possible. Apologies about the mess of edits.
