Changeset When Comment

Hi and welcome to OSM!

Two comments here:
1) Please don't delete objects that exist. You can see the building on CT ECO imagery from 2019
2) Try to have more descriptive changeset comments that would tell others what edits have been done.
Cheers

Hi again,
I see that you are updating shape of lot of objects. In this case please do not delete the old object (e.g. school ground) but change it shape instead by adding nodes or dragging the existing once.

Alternatively you can install utilsplugin2 in JOSM and use Replace geometry function that will do that for you:

Hi,
please be careful. You just deleted a whole powerline.

Hi and welcome to OSM.

Few things I noticed were correct in your edits:
1) Shape of this building you adjusted is not accurate according to the imagery:
way/945866237

2) This is not a building, but a water waster clarifier
way/1270060520

3) These two addresses were moved to a wrong location

I went forward and fixed the issues for you

Hi,
When editing objects, please don't delete and re-draw them. Drag the nodes instead to adjust the shape.
Thanks

Hi and thanks for the correction.
One thing that you could do next time is to re-label the driveway part of residential road as Driveway (highway=service + service=driveway) instead of deleting it. That way we don't lose information.

maybe capped=yes?
I guess disused in this context could mean, not used for depositing of new waste.
Try asking around, I don't know much about landfills :)

Maybe it's a shared driveway (highway=service + service=driveway).
One can see cars parked past that point

Hi,
from CT ECO 2019 imagery it seem to me that the residential road continues even past this point and then a driveway forks off to the east.
`Path` designation means that this way is to be used by pedestrians or bicycles (no cars), but you can see cars parked behind this stretch.
My interpretation is that the residential road continues further on and then a driveway starts on the right side.

Hi,
this might need abandoned:landuse=landfill or landuse=landfill + disused=yes since it is not actively used anymore.

Hi Quincy,
It's a mix of both. There are name tags that are truly descriptive and not an actual name e.g. red trail. The other names are just a duplicate of what is already in the hiking relation and creates just a duplicate when name searching. This is actually quite common way of mapping hiking routes and makes the data more tidy.
There are dedicated hiking maps that show these names from relations. Though, some maps have made a decision of not showing them and in my opinion adding the names as a workaround goes against the creators intent.

Hi and welcome to OSM!
The current agreement is to place school names only the whole school-ground area, but not on the building itself as that would create duplicates when searching objects by name.

Hi,
For the future, if you see a path that has a 'no trespassing' sign or is behind a gate please add `access=private` tag instead of deleting it.
Thanks

147313766 almost 2 years ago

Hi, there is no need to remove driveways.
If a driveway has a gate or a 'no trespassing' sign we put access=private tag on the road.
If the road has a sign saying private, but is without a gate or trespassing restriction we label it as ownership=private.

Hi and welcome to OSM!
Thanks for for fixing the road location, that was indeed placed in a wrong spot.

I just noticed that you forgot to delete a driveway that was in the same location so I went ahead and fixed that.

Hi,
Judging by the look on aerial imagery it seems to me that those residential roads extend to their original location. (you can switch background by pressing B and selecting CT ECO 2019)

Driveways are those narrow roads that lead from the residential road to the house. Those we tag as highway=service and service=driveway.

Hi and thanks for helping OSM!
A note for this edit: POI node and building should only be merged if the whole building belong the the business. In this case that is not true.
