almost 4 years ago | The "hakuba update building" changesets look to be from the same bad dataset.
almost 4 years ago | Yeah fair enough. I haven't added any NHRP/NHL spots for a few months but I will update the script so I don't make the mistake any more. Sorry for the delay in response.
almost 4 years ago | It's just what was put as the example on the OSM wiki NRHP page. I thought it was strange as well, but I had added the example to a hotkey for expediting the additions and it included the protected area boundary.
almost 4 years ago | Do you have a page for this import you're doing?
almost 4 years ago | I hate when JOSM does this. Same as usual, just added buildings.
over 4 years ago | beat me to it lol
over 4 years ago | I tried my hand at it and it isn't my thing. But more space for you to work I suppose.
over 4 years ago | I mean you've done a ton of work doing landuse in Ohio Rapid or not so thats great.
over 4 years ago | In terms of "where I map" I tend to skip around a lot and sometimes will do a lot of work in Ohio areas but then not for a while. It's hard to just say I'm going to map X when I might become busy irl with college.
over 4 years ago | Sorry you posted right before I did.
over 4 years ago | So you are probably not aware, but a large portion of the OSM community considers microsoft/rapid footprints to be junk imports and it can admittedly be difficult to see on older/lower quality aerials. Often times, the footprint created by the database grossly misrepresents the actual building shape, commonly either simplifying the building and ignoring sections or converting multiple buildings into one shape. On top of this, the footprints tend to be randomly distributed away from the actual location, with even square buildings being the wrong rotation and distance away from any aerial. I'm assuming you might have been editing in sort of a "zen" fashion which partnered with a aerial like Bing can make it more difficult to spot the inaccuracies. I just happened to notice you had added some here(and plenty of others across Ohio) and just wanted to make sure you were aware of their potential harmful nature.
over 4 years ago | Added building(s) to Incorporated Williams County #MapRoulette
over 4 years ago | Is there a reason you're using Bing over the Ohio state aerial?
over 4 years ago | Please don't use Microsoft footprints when they clearly don't match at all.
over 4 years ago | Classic European forcing eurocentric spelling on us poor Americans.
over 4 years ago | Please stop using microsoft footprints, they are out of date
over 4 years ago | Why are you using a out of date footprint import that doesn't match best imagery?
almost 5 years ago | Thanks for the information.
almost 5 years ago | god damnit not again
