Personal
I’m originally from the east coast of the US, currently live in South Korea. I have been doing stuff with computers for pretty much my entire life.
Geospatial
I accidentally stumbled into the industry back around 2016 when Google changed their pricing dramatically. One of my clients was affected. I thought “how hard could it be; the data is all out there in OSM!” The rest, as they say, is history ;)
FOSS and Open Data
I’ve been an avid user and contributor to various FOSS projects since 2005 (doing FreeBSD ports; I currently maintain the osmium CLI port), and for may “day job” I am the co-founder of Stadia Maps.
Other stuff:
- Involved in creation of MapLibre
- Primary author of the MapLibre SwiftUI DSL
- Instigator and lead maintainer of Ferrostar, the next-gen FOSS navigation SDK
- Contributor to the Valhalla routing engine, and among other things, developed the golf cart routing profile
