Primarily focused on US street view level features visible on Mapillary and Bing Streetside that were previously missing from OSM, especially verifiable, semi-permanent regulatory street signs such as stop signs.
With the possible end of Bing Streetside in mid-2028 or sooner, adding such signs before they become unavailable (or hard to map otherwise) to OSM is a good priority to always be working towards.
Why that username?
OSM’s Street View resources are excellent for many areas, but the highest potential always remains out of reach… I do believe that theoretical access to [GSV] would become an OSM golden era of convenience, but of course this would never actually happen. As with ALL prohibited proprietary data, it must (sadly) be avoided.
But why specifically stop signs?
Long story short, I like using Overpass-Turbo to check on intersection data for traffic signals, but I felt like contributing back. Since most traffic signal intersections have been adequately covered across most areas, stop signs ended up being the next closest thing of interest. Plus, it ends up being very convenient (in most cases) to locate via what the editor has to offer.
