What does a creative impact agency do? They help companies with the integrated promotion of digital and print advertising. Most agencies specialize in one or a combination of these areas, but not all. They work closely with the client to design and execute campaigns that bring in new customers, increase visibility in search engines, and strengthen their online presence in social media. They help guide companies through the entire branding process from concept to campaign launch. In short, they are tasked with bridging the gap between the companies’ internal and external brand development activities.

How do you get into the industry? Like any other creative professional, you must have an undergraduate degree in a relevant field and at least five years of experience in digital or marketing. At the very least, you should have a bachelor’s degree in a related field. It’s also helpful if you have experience in advertising or the visual arts, as well as relevant network connections. For entry level positions, it helps if you can demonstrate that you can produce a product or a service that is new and innovative.

What kinds of jobs can you get into as a creative impact agency professional? Usually you start out in a smaller firm, working as an intern or assistant to a larger company. As you complete projects, you build a network of other professionals who can help you find jobs with bigger firms. When you’re ready to grow your business and hire employees, you’ll need to expand your office abroad. Some positions may require you to relocate to London or a different European city.

Where can the red canary find a creative impact agency? There are plenty of opportunities to find a creative impact agency in your city. Your local college often has connections to talented individuals. Visit your local talent agencies and speak with current employees. If your college doesn’t have any connection to agencies, look online for small businesses in your city that might need assistance with recruitment. Don’t forget to check small businesses in your area that might hire on a contract basis.

What do you learn when you work at a creative impact agency? Interns usually learn about marketing, human resources, taxes, and accounting, among other things. A lot of the world’s creative artists work out of their homes. While a lot of the larger creative firms get their inspiration from outside the United States, some of the more cutting edge artists have their inspiration primarily within the United Kingdom.

Does it make sense for you to get involved with a creative impact agency? Even if you already work in the field, you can use your experience to help you launch your own agency. You can pick your clients and put together a portfolio of artwork for them to choose from. As you network with other artists, you’ll see what kinds of opportunities come up.
