Anthony Qi was born in Buffalo, NY, and raised in Houston in a family that valued both education and curiosity about the world. From a young age, he was encouraged to pursue knowledge widely, a foundation that would guide his academic and professional choices. After high school, he earned admission to the prestigious Business Honors Program at the University of Texas at Austin, a highly selective undergraduate track recognized for its rigorous coursework and competitive student body.

At UT Austin, Anthony majored in Finance and minored in Spanish, graduating in 2018 with distinction, holding a 3.5/4.0 major GPA. His finance studies sharpened his ability to analyze complex problems, while the honors curriculum exposed him to collaborative projects and case competitions. In 2015, he studied abroad at Universidad de San Andrés in Buenos Aires, gaining fluency through immersive experiences and building a broader perspective on global markets and cultures.

Anthony began his career with internships at Goshawk Global Investments, Nine Ten Capital Management, and Intertek in Shanghai, roles that exposed him to varied industries and global business practices. He later joined Highside Global Management, a $250 million long/short equity hedge fund, where he worked for nearly four years. At Highside, he sourced investment ideas, managed sector coverage, and expanded into semiconductors, software, and packaging while refining a disciplined, evidence-based approach to investing.

During his time at Highside, Anthony also introduced systematic approaches to forecasting by building statistical models that incorporated alternative data into earnings analysis. This enhanced the firm’s predictive accuracy and improved risk management. Seeking new challenges, he transitioned into product development, joining a startup as its first employee. There, he helped build research tools for hedge funds and investigative journalists, contributing to product design, feature development, client relations, and dataset creation.

Anthony’s experience bridges finance and technology, combining deep analytical skills with product-building expertise. He has designed tools for regulatory tracking, provided input on UI/UX, and guided technical strategy while remaining hands-on with data. Fluent in Spanish and conversational in Chinese, he adapts easily across cultures. Proficient with Bloomberg and Capital IQ, he also uses Python and TypeScript when programming to accelerate workflows or generate stronger insights during diligence.
