The Church of the AL_Qeamah_ (St. Paul) is located within the Melkite Greek Catholic cemetery in the Bab Sharqi/Bab Touma area, 100–200 meters southwest of the Church of the Olive in the Zeitoun Quarter. This historical area is rich in churches and Christian cemeteries and is considered the heart of the Melkite Greek Catholic presence. It is an integral part of the history of the Zeitoun Quarter, which also houses the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Dormition (Church of the Olive), the seat of the Melkite Greek Catholic Archdiocese.

This church was built in late 1949 and consecrated in 1950 to serve the community and honor the deceased. Officially known as the "Church of St. Paul for the Honoring of the Dead (Cemetery)," it is directly affiliated with the Melkite Greek Catholic Patriarchate
