Changeset When Comment

Thank-you, This is something I did not know. I will try and look out for a few more in my area (as I know there are a few traffic-light controlled junctions like this), and re-tag appropriately, but which the Overpass query may not have detected

What a beautiful way of mapping a towns boundary 💚

I saw quite a few runners on Sunday, from the comfort of the top deck of a bus though! Did you get a GPS trace of the route?

I may still poke away at getting some more houses added around SW of town, so I will try and avoid any road / pavement structures for a small while.

Bowling Green Road looks fantastic! The new Junction is a lot to take in, but plenty of useful tags I can use elsewhere!

This was a street complete changeset, so I wouldn't have been able to draw the separated sidewalk.

However, I have been slowly going through the town and making sure I update my older tags. For a long time I was tagging as "sidewalk=no" for roads without a directly connected sidewalk, but have been changing this to separate + drawing the sidewalk or footway. Similar to sidewalk=yes, I am trying to change to sidewalk:both=yes

Thank your for your vigilance on the matter! :)

Good update, nice use of the "disused" tag! I can see you take good care of this Airport.

Thank you, I am not really sure though if there are any other suitable tags than grass, I agree that a "man made" grassland would be more suitable for this area, but as you say it is managed area (so "landuse") not natural.

I sadly don't think there is any other, Neither Heath or Scrub would be suitable either.

Thank-you for the feedback. Maybe in the future there will be a more suitable tag, or the inclusion of "seasonal" (like some lakes etc).

You should be writing about the changes you made, e.g. "added buildings and road"

Absolute Hero, Thank-you! That giant Multi-Polygon has been a Thorn in my side for a long time, I appreciate the work it must have taken to split it up, and all the other work! I never knew about the Bicycle Advanced Stop Lines, I will try to keep an Eye out for those to map, If there are any left :D

It already looks so much better, and not a sea of Grey and Red.

Many thanks,
Richard.

Ok thank you. I think the wiki is a bit confusing, especially as the parking position numbers are at the begining of the way and at the point where it ends, but you are right it can make the data a bit cluttered.

I will check that the ways are all facing the correct direction, but from a quick look yesterday they seemed to be correct.

Thank you for the information :)

Why were the tags on the nodes removed? It is common practice to tag the node where the wheel stops, and the way? Many of the ways were the incorrect direction, and adding data to the node made the data clear.

Thank-you for the typo fix. I'm massively dyslexic and neither ID or JOSM supports spell checking, and I can check 3 times if what i have written is similar to what is signposted, but I can only type the same thing 50 times before it becomes word custard :)

Hospital is not written on the sign, this is done with symbols instead.

e.g. if there was a sign with the train station symbol, you wouldn't also write "train station" just use the "destination:symbol=hospital"

There is currently no A&E symbol on the wiki, just hospital

Hello, as you have put a lot of effort into creating this changeset, what are your thoughts on modifying / removing the proposed layout for Stonehenge tunnel after the recent news they have cancelled the project: https://www.theconstructionindex.co.uk/news/view/stonehenge-tunnel-cancelled

Or Is it a bit too soon to modify it? I would hope other parts of the plan still go ahead?

Many thanks!

Incredible work as always. Its always a joy looking at Northampton on the map every now and then, and watching it evolve so quickly!

OK, it seems the mailing list still cannot decide though. legality vs safety over human life, i think safety comes first.

In terms of law, no there is nothing stopping you from walking on that section of road (other than Darwins law).

I will remove this tag, but i believe we should map what is there. Legal definition is not a tangible thing, a 4 lane 60mph roundabout is a thing, and I believe it is not safe for any person to be there, legal or not.

As all 3 routers are currently routing just fine around that roundabout, it should be safe to remove them.

And as others have said at similar locations, the practicality of tagging as foot=no far outweighs the legality of it.

If you feel legality outweighs practicality and safety, and that potentially tagging roads as foot=no to direct traffic to the designated footpaths is similar to "mapping for the render" (the render being navigation in this case) then I will revert the changes.

However to me, this is a map which is used to navigate, and it being able to generate unsafe navigation when a safe alternative is provided should be its primary function.

Its a 4 lane roundabout, You would be a moron if you wanted to walk there.

My understanding is all of central MK pedestrians are not allowed on roads, with signs such as this being common: https://www.reddit.com/r/fuckcars/comments/s1pehz/this_sign_in_central_milton_keynes_in_the_uk_a/

I would call that legal access is denied for foot traffic.
