Checking the posts of the past years after the cables have been installed on the hot spots, all hikers come to a very similar conclusion about the trail as I do.

your document states that there is no easy relation between CAI scale and SAC scale. As OSM uses SAC scale, lets stay with that. As I wrote, the path is T3 with stretches of T4. The previous assignment of the trail was even T3 only. It is not T5. And it is not a via ferrata, but an assisted trail. Please leave it with than.

Already T3 may involve the presence of cables. For OSM, the presence of cables etc. is acknowledged by the tagging as assisted trail.
Via Ferrata should be used only when it can no longer be considered a hiking trail. The 100 trail on Capanne is mostly in the T3 range with some stretches T4, but not more difficult.

Hi Dino,
I changed at Monte Capanne the highway= via ferrata back to path as before and added assisted trail, where applicable. This reflects much better the properties of the trail. I changed the sac scale to t4 to make clear, that this is an alpine trail, according to the signs along the way.

du hast rund um den Säntis mehrere Wege mit mtb scale S4 und S5 bewertet. Bist Du die Wege wirklich gefahren? Insbesondere beim Altmann kommt mir das doch etwas abwegig vor. Ansonsten würde ich die mtb scale nämlich löschen, um Missverständnissen vorzubeugen ...

Why did you remove the path tag. Is the path closed?

I deleted the tourism=attraction link at ferme auberge Schiessroth, as it is inappropriate

Ich habe mittlerweile 6 Wege zurück korrigiert, deren ursprünglich korrekter Verlauf durch deinen Änderungssatz verfälscht wurden. Das muss doch nicht sein!

Bitte nicht von Maps4bw abpausen und korrekte Wegverläufe verschlimmbessern!

Der Wegverlauf des Flaunserwegs stimmt mit der Realität nicht überein.

Der access tag wurde inzwischen korrigiert. Aber foot=yes oder no hat nichts mit der Schwierigkeit des Wegs zu tun, sondern dokumentiert ausschließlich ein Betretungsverbot.

Bitte nicht blind Wege löschen! Wege sind auffindbar und begehbar mit der in der description genannten Einschränkung. Visibility bad bzw. intermediate entspricht diesem.

für Wanderwege bitte path, nicht footway verwenden. Bicycle no, horse no, etc. nur bei einem expliziten Verbotsschild taggen (on the ground regel)

in principle, you're right, this is not encouraged by OSM rules.

On the other hand, should this information about seasonal trail closure be on the maps? I guess yes, as it is quite important for planning of a hike.

For a path, putting this information is the only way to have it on a map. The tags you suggest, would not be covered for a path by any map renderers I know, and this for good reason. Putting this information there would effectively eliminate this information from the map.
That's why I put it in the name tag.

Du hast am Hinterwaldkopf einige Wanderwege gelöchst. Diese Wege existieren (ich bin sie heute gewandert), lediglich die Einstiege sind nicht einfach zu finden. Also, nächstes Mal genauer hinschauen, bevor Du etwas löschst.
