Generally speaking, I think there are only a few countries and regions that can open forest cover data to the public. First of all, this requires a local Open Data technology culture. Currently in Asian countries I only see good forest cover mapping in South Korea and Japan

But in some areas - like China where I am - open geographic data would be considered espionage for betraying the country and directing bombing for the enemy - even execute by shooting - so I don’t think there will be government access in those places Publicly available forest cover data

But I think that’s about as ridiculous as banning the sale of kitchen knives in stores to avoid killing people

Therefore, manual drawing is very necessary
