There are quite a lot of these in this area. It is presentational mapping (i.e. mapping for the standard Mapnik layer, rather than to truly represent what is there, compounded by the lack of rendering support for more appropriate tagging.
In the past, I've been reluctant to fix this sort of thing, because I think that the sudden loss of trees over a large area could lead to an edit war.
This is not a forest! A bad example of mapping for the renderer, there isn't even a single tree here, just a few bushes. I've retagged it as leisure=garden, which is perhaps not ideal since it's just a few plants in the middle of a little roundabout rather than a full sized garden, but better than the previous tagging!
Small numbers of trees can be individually tagged natural=tree. Though if these really are no more than plants then leisure=garden ought to be sufficient.
