Hello SteffiB, hello yaelb, I notice that you have recently done a lot of "Pjs mapping" in South Africa, but you're using OSM tags in a very unusual way. You give strange names to buildings (maybe these are reference numbers but certainly not names). You use the name tag for other descriptive things (e.g. name=community leader) or you mark private gardens as landuse=allotments name=Private Yard. Please seehttps://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Names#Name_is_the_name_only . You use the tags "door" and "gate" with a value of "1". All this is so non-standard that it really needs some explanation: What exactly are you doing here, and for what purpose? However, neither your changeset comments ("Pjs mapping") nor your user profiles point to any explanation of this project that you're doing. Who is organising this? Which documentation are you following that tells you to use things like "door=1" or "name=628/DN-016"? What is the extent of your project? Please get in touch with the Data Working Group at data@osmfoundation.org to discuss before you make any further edits. Thank you!

I would like to know how to revert back changes that have been made. I had created points and given them the name Door while in the field. My plan was to come home and change them to Entrances when I was at my computer. Could someone please advise for how to retrieve this information. It will take me a lot of time to go back with a resident to re-map all of the doors. Thank you, Yael

don't need to - this has been fixed some days ago.
you can see this using an editor like iD or much better JOSM at home.
or click "layers" on this map (4.th buttom top/right) and enable "data".

Just found some entrance=yes with name=gate. please remove the name and everything is ok.

sorry: entrance=yes to barrier=gate is better.

I'm sorry, but I still don't understand what changes you have made to the points labelled as door. To me, they have disappeared. I have tried to do what you say using the layers tab and enabling data, but I still don't understand what edits you made. We really need the entrances to the houses, not just the ones labelled Gate. Those are separate. Could you please be very specific, as we are actually using this map today for a presentation. thank you.

don't panic.
all nodes with "entrance=*" are still visible on the usual osm map (https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=19/-34.02134/18.66506) little gray boxes on a high zoom level.and the gates (entries to gardens, e.g) should be tagged as barrier: barrier=entrance
barriers are visible too.
see https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:entrance and https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:barrier
The "map" on openstreetmap.org is not for doing projects like yours. it's only a demo page to show what is possible with osm.
there a many other ways to visualize "your" data. e.g https://umap.openstreetmap.fr/en/ (browser based).
btw: leading a project without good osm knowledge is no good.

umap is being driven by "queries" to the osm database. usually this will be done with the overpath API https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Overpass_API
for testing use https://overpass-turbo.eu/ at first and later you may use the generated query in umap to visualize it.
unfortunately i don't know anything about "overpass", but it is well known to the osm community. enter a forum and ask for help. e.g. https://forum.openstreetmap.org/viewforum.php?id=10 or a mailing list like https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk or https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-za
talk-za is not very active, i would prefer an international mailing list.
at least you may use the german forum https://forum.openstreetmap.org/viewforum.php?id=14 you may use english of course. many experts there.
