Hi, community norms may vary, but I've found it is better practice to change long driveways to "highway=service, service=driveway, access=private" to prevent routing, rather than deleting, as long as the physical feature is present.

I understand your point, however, simply because a feature exist, doesn't necessarily mean it should be on a map. Private driveways are not needed for a map which is primarily about public roadways, public lands and cultural features. In this particular case, the driveway didn't align to the imagery which is another reason for deleting it since the public roadway, Townsend ends at its current location and does not meander through a gravel pit to a house. Hi, my thought is that OSM is a geospacial database, not just a road navigation map, and that it may not be easy to determine what someone may use the data for. For instance, "average proximity to emergency services" or "can packages be shipped to this address" questions may be more accurate with a mapped driveway, even if it is private. I certainly don't disagree with you strongly enough to revert, but I did want to put out the idea that if something physically exists, it is best to describe it accurately as a private driveway, and update the geometry, rather than deleting it. The norms for this vary around the world, but seem to trend toward "keep but describe" rather than removal. Thanks - Sam
