Hi flierfy,
You put some rail like this one (https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/256454080) to service=siding but they don't match to the description of the wiki (the english one). Do you have reason, expept rendering ;) ?

Hi Charles,
The OSM-wiki describes the use of service=siding as 'Track parallel to main tracks, mostly in railway stations, used for overtaking. Often there are platforms next to them. Main tracks shouldn't be tagged with service=*. ' And this is applicable for the tracks in the terminus bare the two main tracks.

Hi Stephan,
Thank you for your response. I know well those station and the tracks you described as siding are not use for overtaking; they have the same role as the one you left usage=main. It is only geometrically that they are "siding" but the platform next to them are the same as the platform next to the main, they are used by people to access the train. Why do you say this is applicable for the tracks in the terminus bare the two main tracks ? Since those track are not used for siding unlike tracks like this one and those next to it : https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/299339271

How can you identify "main" tracks in a terminus station ? Looking at other terminus stations, all tracks appear to be main tracks :

Hi Charles,
the graphic on this page explains the track tagging in stations pretty well:
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:service
The tracks in a station may all be main tracks. But just the continuous main tracks are tagged usage=main, while the discontinuous ones are tagged service=siding.
And yes, many of the tracks below Pont Masséna would probably be better marked as siding.Hi Antione,
in the absence of official documents I had to pick the continuous main tracks myself. As adviced in the wiki I chose the straightest continuation of the main line tracks from the station approach.
As for the listed termini, tracks are either wrongly tagged or more likely miss some tags. With regards, Stephan

Hi Stephan,
Antoine and I are college, so our view count for one :)
Regarding definitions, as far as we understand them and with what we consider common sense ;), tracks in terminus like in Austerlitz are not siding tracks. So I think we should asks for other point of view ; we know some people who work for SNCF and should have a clear view about it.
Best regards.

Sorry, I'd like to add my 0,02 €. I've been a contributor on OSM railway tracks for years, and tagging the Austerlitz platforms as "siding" makes no sense and is not consistent with OSM usage everywhere else. Stephan, do you have other examples similar to this one? Also, note that you cite "overtaking" as a reason to use "siding", but these are terminus (dead end tracks), so it's clearly not used for overtaking.
