The feature for Great Haywood Marine Services didn't come out as I had intended it - it's a building, of sufficient size to contain a canal narrowboat while it is being worked on. I thought Boat Yard would suffice for this purpose, and entered the company details. However, it doesn't show up on the rendered map anymore. Should it have been "Building"?

Hello,
I'm guessing that you'll need to add a "building" tag to https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/95708858 as well. In the online editor, if you scroll down at the left you can expand the "tags" that OSM uses (these are calculated based on what you typed in at the top left).
If you add "building" with a value of "yes" it'll appear as a building.
I'm not sure how other "places where boats are maintained" are added in OpenStreetMap - maybe find another one and then use "?" to query what is actually tagged there.

I'm not sure why the other two names aren't showing up (they don't show up on a different map to OSM's standard rendering either). The names look OK to me. They may be a bit long to fit at some zoom levels but even when zoomed in (elsewhere) beyond what this map can show I still don't see names displayed - very odd.

Here's my local boatyard https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/30923986. You can replicate the tagging if you wish. It looks as though we used landuse=industrial too.
