A sandpit in a pedestrian area is not a beach & not natural.

Thanks. It's some old tagging. Do you have a suggestion for how best to tag an artificial urban beach (_not_ a playground sandpit)? natural=sand seems widely used for sand cover in man-made situations. For the "beach" part, maybe something in the "leisure" realm would be a better description?

I also make a note that it might be a rather academic question (at least for this case -- it probably comes up in other cities), since I am not sure this beach project should still be on the map, but since it is a seasonal thing, it can only be verified in the summer.

Yes, seasonal is ok - maybe more detailed seasonal=summer https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:seasonal
Instead of natural I would use surface key https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:surface%3Dsand
The main key depends on the purposes/usage.
For relaxing leisure=outdoor_seating https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:leisure%3Doutdoor_seating
For sport leisure=pitch https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:leisure%3Dpitch & sport=multi https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag%3Asport%3Dmulti
Hope it helps. -

Thanks, that's helpful. Outdoor seating with sand surface makes perfect sense.
