Launching: [Language] Localization as an Inclusion and Participatory Enabler

Hi Arnalie, Thanks so much for describing the details of the project, and to the Vietnam, Madagascar & Mozambique communities who are collaborating in it! I’m excited to learn how the experiments go and what learnings transition into developing a wider localization strategy. It would be great to hear if you have a list of any assumptions or hypotheses you will be testing through the experiment? Thanks, Rebecca

What’s in a name? What should HOT’s new regional hubs be called...

Thanks so much for sharing to a wider audience Geoffrey, great to have those suggestions in here too! Great to hear others thoughts & creativity on this - thanks everyone for chiming in:)

What is a regional hub?

Thanks a lot for your comments! Emmor, I’ve updated some descriptions in line with your suggestions, appreciate it.

Hi Logan, thanks for taking some time to document your perspectives on these issues

Thoughts on the OSMF Board and OSM Community

Hi Harry, thank you so much for taking the time to write this post. Your words are very powerful, and it’s really good to see continued dialogue and understand more about your perspectives on participating in OSM(F)

Sorry / Bad choice of words

Hi Frederik, thank you very much for posting this message. This level of self-reflection is important, and I really hope this serves as an example to other in OSM about how we can all own up to and learn from mistakes. As the statement mentions, the systemic behaviours described span many years and many people, and the creation of it is not down to the specific actions of any one individual, but to wanting to make the collective ecosystem more inclusive overall. Thank you

10 Year OSM Usiversary

Congrats on 10 years Russ, amazing milestone!

Quick update on Maxar imagery

Thank you so much Kevin, Bryan and Quincey!! Your efforts are SO appreciated!

Quick update on Maxar imagery

Hi Kevin, thanks for sharing this. Please keep us updated on any timelines you are aware of so that we can better communicate to people who are currently using the imagery on what to expect! When the service is taken offline, do you have any info on how it will appear to mappers (especially thinking about mappers which are mapping on the Tasking Manager on a project that has imagery default set to Maxar)? Thanks so much for taking time to communicate on this, I realise it must be a very busy time, so really appreciate it! Rebecca

OSM and Gender - Invitation to Online Discussion

Hi,

Sharing some recent research on the HOT Community conducted by Amelia Hunt (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BskG72I0M1eOSbw6K5QvqpGwPKecJz7l/view?usp=sharing). Section 1.2 shares some current understanding on Gender Inclusion in the HOT Community.

Thanks,

Rebecca

Validation feedback can provide important social affirmation

A very interesting read, thank you for sharing! I’m quite surprised at the findings. It would be interested to know something on how quickly the validation feedback was given. e.g. if the feedback is given 6 weeks after the mapping, negative feedback might have less of an impact than if it were given same day/week. Might not be within your scope - just a thought :)
