Bicester to Upper Heyford

Okay.

Bicester to Upper Heyford cross country? My advice - don’t if you have to be somewhere at a certain time!

The bridleways either side are fine but the big ploughed field in the middle adds at least an hour to your journey. Cycling is at walking pace at best (although walking would have been even slower).

Photos will appear on http://www.cyclestreets.net/ later.

I’ll be doing the trip again today but sticking to the roads, which are relatively quiet despite the rush hour-ness of the journey.

Car drivers are clearly in a rush. Some drive in the hedgerow on the other side of the road to give you space, which is nice of them. Others, though, like to be as close as possible to your right ear before pulling out, some don’t even bother to pull out!

Ho-hum all part of the fun.

My legs feel like balloons!

Thank you both. Excellent advice and I will report back.

http://www.cyclestreets.net/journey/38107373/ shows the route as I planned it so it is obviously do-able. I’ll give it a go tomorrow and let you know how I get on. I may even be able to avoid the road at the start as well - a bonus at rush hour.

Thanks again,

Paul
