Hi! I have been a geography and map enthusiast since third grade and have lurked around for a while, but it was really in 2023 when I became hooked on improving OSM after realizing how superior it is to any other map in existence. Some of the things I particularly enjoy mapping are statues, memorials, benches, other features in parks, landcover, and sidewalks. I often walk around towns with a camera and document features that need to be added. Sometimes adding missing names to places on the map is just as much fun as the mapping itself! If I have a low level of concentration, I’ll just zoom to a random area of tundra in Canada and add ponds or zoom to a random part of the world and add roads and paths. But usually I am most interested in local mapping.

I grew up in Maine, United States, but have also lived for 3.5 years in Vermont (Upper Valley) and 2 years in Massachusetts (Cape Cod). Since 2023 I have called Connecticut home (Shoreline). I also did a seven month trip around South and Southeast Asia in 2019. You can read about it here. https://7monthasiatrip.home.blog/2019/05/28/the-journey-begins/

In addition to OSM, you can also find me out finding geocaches (username The_Sleuth), documenting historical markers on HMDB.org, and documenting ski lifts on the French website Remontees-Mecaniques.net.

My favorite thing about OSM is that it is a very human map. Kind of a beautiful mess! Hyperlocal mapping is awesome. When I eventually have time, I am thinking about starting a mapping meetup in Connecticut. Don’t hesitate to reach out about this, or for any other reason. I still am relatively new to the community so I feel like I have a lot to learn. Looking forward to many great years of mapping to come!
