Polyglot has done this, and he knows what he is doing. It is practical to know where the nouveau piƩtonner is. Maybe this is not forever. The name is between apostrophes. So let's hope that the tourists won't be confused.
I don't really like your argument "he know what is is doing". Even the work of experienced mappers can be discussed... I admit it is not an important note but I still think that the tag name should contain what is written on the street signs... But ok, I close it again and we will be back in six months when the pedestrian zone will not be new anymore ;)
It's most definitely true that we're all prone to make mistakes.
In fact, I only added a translation, as it was only in French initially. I didn't give it too much further tought. I did convert the parts to a multipolygon. The name now only appears once. But it's probably not very clear anymore what it refers to on the rendered map.
As far as I'm concerned the name doesn't have to stay on the MP. It may indeed be hard to find a street sign with that name on it. The name was mostly invented for PR reasons.
Just comments, no updates.
