I looked at the undelete tool that I have at hand for this area (http://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=16/50.6682/-123.4575&layers=N) but it showed nothing deleted here.
The only thing I can think of is that someone would have deemed some data added here as "illegal", ie. not permitted because of licensing issues. In such cases data may need to be redacted from the database and they are not visible for the undelete tools.
Do you know who mapped these objects that you are reporing as being lost now?
BTW. All usrs of OSM are equal contributors. We're pretty much all also doing this voluntarily for the fun of it. That's how OSM is. And other platforms like Google Maps or Waze are actually no different in this regard. Anyways, just wanted to mention that too much venting and definitely lashing doesn't help in solving problems.
http://whistlerhiatus.com/driving/keyhole-hot-springs-100k.html has a map of the new trail. I'm not sure if we can use that.
